Prof. S. O. Akinola joined the service of the University of Ibadan, Ibadan on 9 May 2002 as Assistant Lecturer and rose through the ranks to the grade of Professor on 1 October, 2017 in the Department of Computer Science. He had his PhD in Software Engineering in October 2010. His research focus is in the areas of Software Engineering with particular interest in Software Quality Assurance and Applied Data Mining Techniques. He has more than 70 publications in local and international conferences as well as in reputable local and international journals. He is the immediate past Head of Department of Computer Science, University of Ibadan. He was also a one-time Sub Dean (Physical Sciences) in the Faculty of Science of the University. He has been a Senate representative on the ICT and Business Committees. He was a Visiting Lecturer at Nancy 2 Université, France in 2008 and at Wisconsin International University College, Ghana in 2011 to 2012. He had supervised some number of PhD researches in Software Engineering and Data Mining. Currently he supervises six PhD works in the same areas. He is external examiners to many Universities and Polytechnics including Federal University of Technology, Minna, University of Calabar, Calabar, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomosho and a host of others.
