Professor Isaac Olawale Albert
Isaac Olawale Albert is a Professor of African History, Peace and Conflict Studies and the Pioneer Dean, Faculty of Multidisciplinary Studies, University of Ibadan. He is a specialist in conflict analysis, early warning system, peace process planning, peace education, monitoring and evaluation. Following his PhD in 1994 at the University of Ibadan, he trained at the United Nations International Leadership Academy (Amman, Jordan) in 1999 for a Certificate course in peacekeeping and conflict resolution. He subsequently attended courses in peace processes in the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, France, Belgium, Finland, Israel, Palestine, Italy, Egypt, South Africa, Algeria and various parts of Africa. He established the MA and Ph.D degree programme of the University of Ibadan in Peace and Conflict Studies. He also established the MA and Ph.D course of the University of Ilorin (Nigeria) in Peace and Strategic Studies. He was the UNDP Consultant for the design of the Peace and Development Studies Programme of the University of Cape Coast in Ghana. In 2006, he won the Africa Peace Education Prize of the California State University, Sacramento (USA). He also won the Peace Education award of Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre Accra Ghana in 2013. He is a Fellow and a former Board Chairman of the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP). He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC). He was a past Regional Board Chairman of the West African Networks for Peacebuilding (WANEP), Accra, Ghana. He was a federal delegate to the 2014 National Conference in Abuja (Nigeria) and a member of the Presidential Panel for the Review of Nigeria’s Defence Policy (2014/2015). He was a Resident Fellow of the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center in 2016. He is a Full Member of the Chatham House London (113597) and has published over 200 books, chapters in books, and journal articles on issues relating to peace and conflict in Africa. He is a member of the TETFUND National Standing Committee on Research and Development (Sub-committee on Defence and Security).
