Prof. Adebola Babatunde Ekanola
Adebola Babatunde Ekanola has been teaching Philosophy at the University of Ibadan (UI) for 24 years. He has been applying, consistently, the tools of Philosophy to address issues relating to Peace and Development in Africa. He has over 60 publications in reputable international and national outlets and has served his home institution in different capacities. These include Head of Department; Dean, Faculty of Arts; Director, Office of International Programmes; Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic); and presently Ag. Vice Chancellor. One of his primary interests is to enhance the University of Ibadan’s academic standards and the quality of its graduands in response to contemporary social/global realities. Prof. Ekanola facilitated several international collaborations across all continents on behalf of the University of Ibadan. These include the DAAD In Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme approved in June 2019 and the DAAD-funded employability research and training programme, approved in December 2019. This is being executed in conjunction with the Institut fur Afrikastdien, Universitat Leipzig, Germanyand five other universities in Africa. In addition, he led a team that won a TETFUND grant for the publication of a book on behalf of the Faculty of Arts, University of Ibadan. He has engaged in diverse academic across Africa, Europe, USA, South America, and Asia. These include being a visiting scholar at the John and Elnora Fergusson Centre for African Studies, University of Bradford, Bradford, UK. In addition, he has served as participant, resource person or keynote speaker at several academic workshops and conferences within and outside Nigeria.
